NRCA Takes the Ice Bucket Challenge, Raises More Than $2,000 in Donations

On Monday, Sept. 8, NRCA staff accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge from the Florida Roofing, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (FRSA). In addition to dousing themselves, NRCA staff donated to the ALS Association (ALSA) as well as the Oklahoma 4-H Foundation. More than $2,000 was raised.

The Oklahoma 4-H Foundation co-sponsors “Horseback Heroes” with NRCA member Oklahoma Roofing and Sheet Metal. Horseback Heroes is an annual event honoring children of deployed Oklahoma soldiers by giving them the rare opportunity to spend the day working on a farm and taking part in activities including horseback riding, cattle roping, and tack and grooming.

In February, Oklahoma Roofing and Sheet Metal won the 2014 CNA/NRCA Community Service Award for its work with Horseback Heroes and received a $5,000 donation from the CNA Foundation for the event.

In completing the challenge, NRCA nominates the members of its Executive Committee and board of directors, as well as the staff of Hanley Wood to take the Ice Bucket Challenge.
