NRCA’s Professional Roofing magazine article highlights formatting changes to The NRCA Roofing Manual: Membrane Roof Systems – 2015
Those with previous volumes of The NRCA Roofing Manual will notice a change in formatting in the recently released 2015 volume, The NRCA Roofing Manual: Membrane Roof Systems – 2015. The reformatting allows it to be used as a reference manual for roofing contractors and roof system designers.
Updates to the manual are highlighted in “The 2015 Manual,” a feature article in the April issue of NRCA’s trade magazine, Professional Roofing.
The NRCA Roofing Manual: Membrane Roof Systems – 2015 replaces The NRCA Roofing Manual: Membrane Roof Systems – 2011.
The article serves as a guide to help roofing contractors navigate the new manual format, highlighting areas where revisions have been made.
“NRCA manuals are not read cover to cover,” explains the article’s author, Maciek Rupar, an NRCA director of technical services. “With this in mind, guides for developing roof system specifications are placed in the first chapter where they can easily be located ahead of component-specific information.”
The new formatting provides a user-friendly reference for roofing contractors and roof system designers. The first chapter includes material selection checklists that may be used to prepare submittal paperwork.
The article also details additional updates and changes to the manual from The NRCA Roofing Manual: Membrane Roof Systems – 2011, including guidelines for rigid board roof insulation and cover boards, expanded discussion of adhered roof membranes to address available application methods and recommendations for additional membrane securement.
The NRCA Roofing Manual: Membrane Roof Systems – 2015 is available for free on Apple, Android and Windows tablets through the NRCA app, which is free to all NRCA members. The manual is also available for free download for members at shop.nrca.net. Hard copies can also be purchased at shop.nrca.net.
