Attention NRCA members! Be sure to tell your children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews to get their entries for NRCA’s third annual Children’s Art Contest. Part of National Roofing Week, the contest, sponsored by A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply, Aurora, Ill., promotes awareness of the importance of having a roof to grade school-age children, showing them the value of roofs and the roofing industry in their communities.

The contest is open to children in grades 1-8 who are relatives of NRCA members and their employees; entries must be received by the end of the business day April 15.

NRCA encourages roofing professionals to talk to children about their contribution to the roofing industry and why their jobs are important. This not only will provide children with ideas about what to draw, but also will educate them about the value of roofing professionals.

Finalists from each group are selected based on the artwork that most effectively illustrates what a roof does.

Winners are chosen from the following age groups:

Group 1: Grades 1-2
Group 2: Grades 3-5
Group 3: Grades 6-8

Winners from each group will receive gift certificates and other prizes and will have their artwork featured on all 2016 National Roofing Week material and displayed at industry events throughout the year, including the 2017 International Roofing Expo® and NRCA’s 130th Annual Convention in Las Vegas.

Following are the winners of the 2015 contest:

Group 1 (Grades 1-3) – Whalen, relative of Ben Thomas, Ledegar Roofing Co., LaCrosse, Wis.

Group 2 (Grades 4-6) – Bella, relative of Jack Diamond, A Good Roofer Inc., Lakeside, Calif.
